CREATORS

ANTHONY J. DIXON
Playwright, Composer, Lyricist
Musical Director
Anthony J. Dixon, former bass player, vocalist and songwriter for “NU-MATERYAL” on the Inner Circle Record Label in the early 90s, has produced commercial jingles for Cable TV, written and recorded songs. In addition, he produced concerts in support of new artists in collaboration with then partner, the great Saxophonist Curtis Bailey under the production name of “Curtone The Final Word.”
Dixon was sparked by the desire to chronicle a young woman’s evolving journey and challenges faced while maneuvering through life with modern media influences. He recorded how ultimately she makes her choices. Anthony called upon friend Sandra Barnes and held meetings with women of all ages for their perspectives. From there, “Futurology” the musical was born.
Anthony learned about the world of theater by working on projects with his cousin and award winning playwright and author, Paul Carter Harrison, in addition to Woodie King Jr., and Herman D. Farrell III HBOs Boycott and many others. Born into a family of artists, Dixon’s inspiration was his Grandmother, Glady’ce Dejesus, a pioneer Rhythm & Blues songwriter with Décca Records. Her works have been recorded by Lionel Hampton, Louis Jordan and Dinah Washington to name a few. Currently, Anthony is a Recruiter for the Coca-Cola Refreshment Company.
Dixon feels that the aim of this work Futurology the Musical is to create an everlasting art that will entertain, resonate and continue to be told for the benefit of us all for generations to come.

SANDRA BARNES
Playwright
Sandra Barnes’ journey in musical theatre began when she trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy over 20 years ago. There, she studied acting, singing, dance and some directing. After leaving school she performed in various plays and musicals in New York City including, "Love vs. Death...the Final Battle”, an Off - Broadway musical at Symphony Space.
Due to the dearth of good material for black actresses, Barnes soon began writing her own material. Those efforts paid off when "Lionheart", her first effort, was produced at the Riant Theatre, which involved a fictional characterization of the effects that the Rodney King incident had on his wife.
A watershed moment in her life and career, which lead to the genesis of “Futurology” began when Barnes met Tony Dixon, her creative partner of this marvelous piece. After spending many hours talking, dreaming and writing, together they developed “Futurology,” which speaks to their dreams for the future for young brothers and sisters. After having had many readings and a few productions of the piece, it has evolved into something of which she is proud. Sandra Barnes’ “hope is that Futurology the Musical will be seen all over the United States and the world so that it might bring a message of hope and inspiration”.

Zewditu “Ziggy” Mulugeta
Hair Stylist & Design
Ziggy fondly remembers growing up with her extended “male” family household where her hair often looked like a disaster. Lopsided pony tails and an untamed mane were the norm and certainly didn't suit her together look and personality that even at a young age she strived for. She quickly learned at the age of seven that if she wanted to look good she had to take matters into her own hands. Here began Ziggy's journey into the world of hair. By age 10, Ziggy had a following of family and friends willing to pay affordable amounts for Ziggy to braid their hair. Quickly, Ziggy became known as the braid master. If you could imagine a style, she could design and produce it for you.
At age 13, Ziggy was given her first professional opportunity in a hair salon. As a young girl this was an exciting and unexpected opportunity. She describes getting a "high" from making people feel good about their appearance. Through hair design, color and cuts, Ziggy learned how to create an outer beauty that reflected her clients’ inner beauty. She later developed make-up artistry which further developed her as a hair and make-up artist extraordinaire.
Ziggy has had the opportunity to learn at various hair salons that have supported her growth as a hair artist. Today she is the founder and stylist at Ziggy Artistry a beautiful hair salon located in New City New York. Whether you’re looking for a polished look for that fabulous event, need a new style for work or just want good quality hair care, Ziggy can provide that for you and more.
